Vietnam attends IPU meeting in Ecuador
(VOV) – The Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, is attending the 128th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) General Assembly in Ecuador from March 22-27.

Themed “From unrelenting growth to purposeful development to improve living standards: New approaches, new solutions”, the meeting will focus on discussions regarding development orientation in the new era, as the deadline for the United Nations Millennium Development Goals approaches. Resolutions in the fields of security-politics, trade-economics, democracy and human rights are expected to be issued at the session. Speaking at the IPU, Vice Chairwoman Ngan voiced Vietnam’s strong support for the Union’s discussions regarding new growth-models that will benefit people. She reviewed Vietnam’s important campaigns to realize its Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to work closely with the IPU and the international community to raise living standards for all in the new development era.
The Vietnam NA delegation visited Peru last Wednesday to strengthen cooperation between the two legislative bodies and countries, especially in the areas of legislation, economics, trade and investment.
