Vietnam commemorates victims of traffic accidents

(VOV) – Vietnam observes November 19 as the Day for the commemoration of Road Traffic Victims for the first time this year. The Memorial Day is organized by the National Traffic Safety Committee on Monday evening.

In related news, the Da Nang Youth Union in cooperation with the Da Nang city’s Traffic Safety Committee held a forum on “Traffic disaster – immediate action”. Representatives from relevant agencies introduced traffic regulations and asked young people to be role models in complying with the Road Traffic Law. Truong Thanh Toan, a Deputy Secretary of Thanh Khe ward’s Youth Union, says: “The forum helps us understand more about the serious consequences of traffic accidents. We have improved our awareness on abiding by the traffic law. We hope our peers in the province and nationwide better obey the law to prevent accidents.”

Other localities including the Central Highlands province of Dac Lac, the central provinces of Ha Tinh and Nghe An today organized commemorations for traffic victims.

Statistics show that more than 120,000 people died in traffic accidents in Vietnam over the past decade.
