Vietnam Forum opens in US

(VOVworld)- A Vietnamese Forum has opened in the United States to enhance dialogues on topics concerning Vietnam and Vietnam-US relations. The forum will serve as a channel through which the Vietnamese Embassy in the US can broaden contacts with scholars and policy makers concerned with national security and development. The Embassy hopes that through the forum, young researchers will pay more attention to Vietnam. As part of the event, a round-table discussion of Vietnam’s foreign policy in light of the 11th National Party Congress’ resolution drew overseas Vietnamese scholars, researchers, and representatives from US universities, government, non-governmental organizations, businesses, and the World Bank. Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong briefed the participants on Vietnam’s foreign policy targets until 2020 and its progress, especially in the process of international integration, since the 11th National Party Congress. He said Vietnam is an active and responsible member of the international community. The Embassy will hold more discussions on Vietnam’s security and development and other important issues related to the region on a regular basis.
