(VOVworld)- The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour held a ceremony to mark the International Workers’ Day (May Day) on Sunday night in Hanoi to recall the great role of the Vietnamese working class in national construction and defence.

Politburo member and head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization Truong Thi Mai praised achievements recorded by the working movement and the trade unions. She stressed the need to build Vietnamese working class to be a key force for national industrialization and modernization: “Efforts should be made to improve the efficiency of the trade unions, which work with the Party and State to fine-tune the labourer-related legal system. It’s important to organize the implementation of collective labour agreement, settle labour disputes and protect the legitimate rights of workers. We should successfully launch patriotic emulation movements and encourage state employees and labourers to take the lead in the movements and in national development”.

On this occasion, Vietnam General Confederation of Labour honoured 10 products made by Vietnamese workers.
