Vietnam navy celebrates 57th anniversary of first victory

(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnamese Navy will mark the 57th anniversary of its first victory on Thursday, August 5.

The victory shows the strong will and wisdom of Vietnam’s Navy and the people of northern Vietnam and inspires Vietnamese soldiers to complete all missions and protect the homeland’s sovereignty.

Major Phan Thanh Truong, Captain of Ship 012, Brigade 162, Naval Region 4, said: "Experience from the victory was applied to achieving combat readiness and mastering new weapons and equipment. The officers and soldiers of ship 012 are dedicated to fulfilling their assigned tasks and ready to fight and sacrifice to protect the country's sovereignty."

Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Bong, Political Commissar of the Navy, said: "Navy officers and soldiers are absolutely loyal to the Party, State and people, and show strong political bravery, great determination, and responsibility. We are always ready to accept missions, fight, and sacrifice to protect Vietnam’s sea and island sovereignty and the sacred continental shelf of the Fatherland."
