Vietnam vows active contribution to Francophone Summit

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam spoke highly of the efforts of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) and its Secretary General, Louise Mushikiwabo in promoting multilateralism and multilingualism at the United Nations, said Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to the UN, at a dialogue session with the OIF chief.

The meeting was convened by the Group of Ambassadors of the Francophonie at the UN headquarters in New York on the occasion of Ms. Mushikiwabo attending the annual meeting of the Commission on the Status of Women and in preparations for the annual celebration of the International Francophonie Day, March 20.

Attending the session were more than 40 ambassadors and representatives from the delegations of OIF member countries.

Giang noted that Vietnam supports Francophone countries in order to coordinate with each other to contribute to preparations for the UN Summit of the Future, the Global Digital Compact, and other current discussions at the UN.

Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang affirmed that Vietnam will actively contribute to the upcoming 19th Francophone Summit scheduled in France in October with the theme of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship.
