Vietnam-Asia Silk Culture Festival 2016 opens in Hoi An
(VOVworld)- The Vietnam-Asia silk cultural festival opened in Hoi An city on Monday drawing the participation of more than 70 delegates from 9 countries famous for their silk culture.

The festival aims at restoring traditional Vietnamese silk culture and its promotion in the modern world. It will feature an incense offering ceremony to the Princess of silkworms, an introduction and performance of traditional silk weaving techniques from famous silk craft villages and the Cham, and the Co Tu ethnic minority people. Dinh Hai is Director of the Quang Nam Provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism:
“Over the last 10 years, the silk sector has lost its market. Quang Nam province has put in a place a scheme to restore silk craft villages in Nam Phuc, Duy Xuyen and Duy Trinh districts. These villages have preserved and promoted the craft of silk weaving”.
The Vietnam-Asia Silk Culture Festival 2016 is the official event of the International Silk Union and Asia Silk Alliance in the World Culture Heritage Site of Hoi An aiming to promote the silk trade .
