(VOVworld)- The UN Children’s Fund or UNICEF in Vietnam on Thursday released the State of the World’s Children Report 2014 which is themed “Reimagine the future: Innovation for every child”. Addressing the release ceremony, Youssouf Abdel Jelil, UNICEF Representative in Vietnam said that the UN General Assembly approved in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989 and Vietnam was the first country in Asia and second in the world to adopt the Convention in 1990. Since then, Vietnam has seen remarkable achievements in implementing the rights of the child. The Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Doan Mau Diep highlighted the significance of the report which helps Vietnam to learn about its achievements in implementing the rights of the child in comparison with other countries. Diep said the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs will work with relevant ministries and agencies to fine-tune legal documents and policies on child care and protection with special attention being paid to children in ethnic minority, mountainous and remote areas.
