(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam's agro-forestry and fishery exports have surpassed previous records, heading toward the export target of 70 billion USD this year, said Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien at a regular press briefing on Thursday in Hanoi.

In 11 months of this year, total agricultural, forestry, and fishery export turnover is estimated at 64 billion USD, up 12.6% year-on-year. The figure demonstrates a robust recovery of the agricultural trade sector, surpassing last year’s total value of 62.4 billion USD. In the reviewed period, the trade surplus reached 19.55 billion USD with export staples, such as rice, coffee, cashew nuts, fruits, and vegetables, strengthening their foothold in major markets.

Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien said: “Export markets, particularly the US and China, have rebounded positively. The EU market also witnesses strong shifts. If exports in December maintain the growth momentum of approximately 6 billion USD, Vietnam will meet and possibly surpass the annual export target of 65 to 70 billion USD.”
To sustain this growth trajectory, economic experts suggest expanding standardized raw-material zones in line with international requirements, reducing reliance on specific markets, strengthening market forecasting, and accelerating digital transformation in production.
