The visit this week with guests participating in a seminar discussing methods to attract Indonesian tourists. The possibility of opening flights from Indonesia to Da Nang was also discussed, said the city’s Department of Tourism on Wednesday.

Indonesia with a population of more than 280 million people, the fourth largest in the world and the largest in Southeast Asia, is ripe with potential as a source of tourists, according to Nguyen Thi Hoai An, Deputy Director of Da Nang Department of Tourism.

According to Vietnam’s General Statistics Office, last year more than 26,000 Indonesian tourists visited Da Nang, accounting for 25% of the total number of Indonesian tourists coming to Vietnam, a sign that the coastal city will welcome many more in the near future.

Da Nang International Airport and external services have offered prayer rooms and dietary services which cater to Muslim practices since the beginning of 2023.

More than 90% of all flights from Indonesia have been restored since the end of the Covid‑19 pandemic. Indonesia’s demand for tourism has increased significantly, favoring new and high-end destinations, said Pauline Suharno, President of Indonesian Travel Agents Association, adding Da Nang has a great potential to become a magnet for Indonesian tourists.
