Vietnamese, Thai navies hold 47th joint patrol

From April 12 to 13, the Vietnam People’s Navy and the Royal Thai Navy conducted a joint patrol in the adjacent waters according to the 1999 agreement on regulations of joint patrolling and establishing communication channels between the Vietnamese and Thai Navies.
During the patrol, the two sides exchanged information; practiced hand flag, lamp, and whistle signaling according to the International Code on Signals. Naval ships of the two sides also exercised search and rescue scenarios and contents of the Code for Unplanned Encounters at Sea (CUES) and disseminated information on illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
The 47th joint patrol contributed to maintaining security and order in the waters adjacent to Vietnam and Thailand and fostered cooperation, exchange, mutual understanding, and trust between the two navies.
