Chairing a government meeting in Hanoi, Prime Minister Chinh ordered work to begin without delay, saying the facility construction has a full political, legal, practical, and planning basis. He asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to work on other petroleum and crude oil storage facilities in Dung Quat (Quang Ngai province), Long Son (Ho Chi Minh City), and other areas.

On March 29, the Prime Minister surveyed the proposed location for the storage facility in Nghi Son, which will contribute to the early concretization of the National Petroleum and Gas Reserve and Supply Infrastructure Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need to ensure security and safety, in the event of emergencies, and ensure the projects’ effectiveness. Encouraged to cooperate with foreign partners, Petrovietnam will work with partners to implement high-level leadership agreements to build petroleum storage facilities. They will serve double-digit economic growth, socio-economic development, national defense and security, and contribute to making Vietnam a regional energy hub.
