Charity concerts by high school students in Hanoi – because every little thing counts!

(VOVWORLD) - A small act of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s life. Believing in that philosophy, 12th-graders Phan Anh Minh and Nguyen Trung Duc from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted have used their musical talent to raise 2,600 USD for the Zero-Dong Share Mart chain, which provides free food and other necessities to disadvantaged people during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Sai Gon thuong” by Kyo York spreads the message of love

(VOVWORLD) - ‘Beautiful’, ‘emotional’, ‘captivating’, and ‘spiritual encouragement’ are some of the words people have used to express their feelings after watching a music video called “Sai Gon thuong” (Love Sai Gon). The song, which has gotten more than 200,000 views on social media, was sung by American Kyo York, who came to Vietnam in 2009 to teach English and ended up becoming a popular singer in Vietnam. He considers Ho Chi Minh City his second home.

Irish teacher John Hennigan, who works for the British-Vietnamese International School (BVIS) in Hanoi, says love at first sight struck him the moment he saw the incomplete smile of a Vietnamese orphan baby with a cleft lip. He decided to adopt the baby, and from that moment on both their lives totally changed.

They are born with dignity and the ability to work purposefully to contribute to a better world, even people with disabilities. Michelle Beard and her husband Michael, who have lived in Vietnam for 10 years, have created the Imago Work project to help people with disabilities build a better future.
