The mission will work with the provincial Sub-department of Fisheries, Seas and Islands on fleet management, vessel monitoring, catch certification, and enforcement of administrative violations. The delegation will work at Dong Tac Fishing Port and inspect several seafood export companies in Dak Lak.

Authorities are urging local agencies and coastal authorities to act responsibly and transparently in preparing reports and documents on fleet management, vessel monitoring, and seafood traceability, in line with EC recommendations.

Dak Lak is determined to get the IUU “yellow card” lifted and develop a sustainable fisheries sector in line with international law, according to Ta Anh Tuan, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

He said, "to show the province’s serious commitment, border guards and fishing port authorities must closely monitor offshore fishing vessels, clearly inform fishermen that violations will be punished, and prepare all documents related to IUU prevention."
