2017 saw impressive tourism development. In November alone, Vietnam welcomed nearly 1.2 million foreign visitors, 14.4% more than in October. It’s the 8th consecutive month that Vietnam has received more than 1 million tourists.

This year the Politburo issued a resolution on making tourism a spearhead sector. The 14th National Assembly adopted the revised Tourism Law. The government promulgated two decisions on piloting electronic visas for foreigners and extending visa exemptions to tourists from 5 western European countries. The APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in Da Nang in early November effectively promoted Vietnam’s image to the world. Vietnam received about 13 million foreign visitors this year, 28% more than in 2016, thanks to numerous promotion programs in key markets, participation at international tourism fairs, and hosting of foreign business delegations to survey Vietnam’s tourism.
