Black Friday around the world

(VOVWORLD) - Stores and shoppers across Europe and America have arrived at Black Friday, the beginning of the busiest shopping season of the year. During this period supermarkets and shops will discount millions of products for consumers.

Discount advertising can be seen on every street in the US. Amazon, the biggest online retailer in the US, has announced discounts on thousands of electronics, toys, cosmetics, and household items – including smartphones, Sony and Samsung TVs, and all kinds of laptops and notepads.

According to Amazon, the company has fully stocked its stores with commodities, hired more workers, and lengthened working hours. The average American will spend hundreds of USD between now and Christmas. Amazon’s profits are expected to top 9.36 billion USD it earned last year.

In the UK, consumers will spend at least 13 billion USD during Black Friday week, 4% more than last year. Unlike Americans, British people prefer shopping on the Internet via mobile phones and computers to waiting in line in a crowded store.

Statistics released by the Interactive Media in Retail Group (IMRG) and the Staveley Head insurance company show that on Black Friday 2.3 million USD per minute are spent by online shoppers in the UK.

Since 1965, Black Friday has been regarded in the US as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. It’s the day when shops offer their biggest promotional sales of the year. Now it has become the year’s biggest shopping event in many parts of the world.
