During the 3-day event, festival-goers experience the nature, culture, and history of Dien Bien and other localities. The cultural and community activities of 19 ethnic groups in Dien Bien province have been recreated in a "Highland Cultural Space" featuring traditional houses, performances of folk songs and folk dances, and other ethnic minority cultural practices.

Trang A Vang of Tua Chua district said: "I brought a panpipe to the festival hoping to learn from people of other ethnic groups. I want to introduce it to visitors."

Cultural and tourism products of 23 cities and provinces are on display in 90 booths. This is an opportunity to promote their OCOP products and local trade.

Truong Hong Loan of the Center for Trade and Investment Promotion of An Giang province said: "We came 3,000 kilometers from An Giang to Dien Bien to introduce our specialties and culture and help people from other regions better understand the southwest region of Vietnam. We will work with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien to connect tours and jointly promote tourism development in both places."

At the opening of the 2024 National Tourism Year on Saturday, an art program called "Returning to the region of bauhinia" was held, featuring the land, people, and culture of Dien Bien and nearby regions. To mark the occasion, shows featuring the legend of U Va, Thai folk culture, the Xoe dance of the Thai, and the Mong panpipe were held.
