The street sells a wide range of decorative items such as lanterns, red banners with parallel sentences, lucky money envelopes, silk flowers, and molds for wrapping square sticky rice cakes also known as chung cakes.

Vu Bich Ngoc, owner of a store on Phan Boi Chau street, said traders have displayed Tet decorative products since Christmas. During the days ahead of Tet, consumer purchasing rises about 25-30%.

“I open the store from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is most crowded around 3 to 4 p.m. This is the Year of the Dragon, so dragon-shaped decorations and ornaments are much sought after among Tet items. Prices range from 4 to 9 USD. Large paper fans can cost around 13 to 18 USD,” said Ngoc.
