Trucks carrying Tet gifts for disadvantaged people are fanning to mountain localities in Quang Ngai province. Tran Dong Phong, Chairman of Son Lien commune’s People’s Committee, said: “The authority is calling on charity organizations, businesses, and philanthropists to donate to poor people and social beneficiaries so they will have a sufficient Tet.”

Le Van Sau, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in Quang Ngai province, said they have received hundreds of gift sets. “The provincial Fatherland Front is working with the Red Cross Society and socio-political organizations to care for the poor.”

102 communes in Kon Tum province have made lists of families who might not have enough food for the Tet holiday. A Nhap, Vice Chairman of Dak Blo border commune, said: “We have a list of poor families to receive Tet gifts. We pledge that 100% of poor families will have adequate food for the Tet festival.”

Da Nang city’s Fatherland Front has donated 3,500 gifts, each worth 500,000 to 700,000 VND. Philanthropists have donated 10,000 gift sets worth 4.2 billion VND. Dang Thi Kim Lien, Chairwoman of Da Nang city’s Fatherland Front, said: “Da Nang City’s Fatherland Front gives Tet gifts to poor families every year. All poor families will have Tet gifts.”

Giving Tet gifts to ease the burden of people in disadvantaged areas is a long tradition.
