A representative of the Vien Dong Hotel, part of the Ben Thanh Tourist Company in Ho Chi Minh City, said that, starting Sunday, the 1st day of the 7th lunar month, they have increased their vegetarian buffet service and extended the program throughout the month to meet greater demand.

On weekends, the hotel hosts a vegetarian buffet dinner. The current price of the buffet is 7.5 USD per person, with no price increases or surcharges on weekends or holidays. Customers can receive a 10% discount if they book the service one day in advance.

The Majestic Hotel offers a vegetarian buffet on two weekends during the Vu Lan month, with prices starting at 7.5 USD for children and 15 USD for adults. Last year, this program received enthusiastic response from both residents and tourists and buffet ticket sales far exceeded expectations.

In Hanoi, the vegetarian cuisine market is thriving thanks to the increasingly popular trend of macrobiotic eating. Restaurants usually serve lunch and dinner, but during the Vu Lan season they serve a vegetarian breakfast. This year restaurants are adding vegetarian hot pot dishes and buffets to cater to the younger crowd. Many restaurants are introducing vegetarian dishes rich in vitamins and beneficial for health made from seasonal vegetables and grains.

The Tinh Khong Vegetarian Restaurant in Hanoi’s Lang Ha district has introduced a hot pot combo for four people.

Ms. Nguyen Ngan Ha Giang, the restaurant’s manager, said: "Fasting calms the mind, generates a feeling of happiness, and nourishes the soul. It also purifies the body, reduces the risk of disease, and promotes good health. During this Vu Lan season, Tinh Khong restaurant is introducing a variety of new dishes that promote our diners' health."

Meanwhile, supermarkets like Co.op Mart, Bach Hoa Xanh, and Lotte are promoting and discounting many vegetarian products. The vegetarian food section is well-stocked with sticky rice cakes, spring rolls, dumplings, and more at quite affordable prices.
