(VOVWORLD) - Speaker of India’s Lower House Om Birla began an official visit to Vietnam on Tuesday at the invitation of National Assembly Chairman VuongDinh Hue. The visit is expected to deepen the bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership following Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue’s visit to India last December and recent talks on the phone between Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Vietnam and India will celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year. The Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which was established in September 2006, has grown steadily.
Vietnam, India share common values
Over the last 5 decades Vietnam and India have effectively promoted their bilateral relationship in various sectors, including people to people exchange. The two countries have fostered cultural ties and shared common values of patriotism, humanity, and peace and supported each other in the struggle for national independence and in socio-economic development.
They have strengthened bilateral cooperation, nurtured friendship and promoted the bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the interest of their peoples.
President of the Vietnam-India Friendship Association, Nguyen Manh Hung, said: “Similarity in socio-economic development policies and orientations of India and Vietnam will be an important premise for further bilateral cooperation. A number of cooperative programs and plans have been implemented between ministries, sectors, organizations, and businesses. It will be a firm foundation to further bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.”
The two countries’ Prime Ministers adopted the “Joint Vision for Peace, Prosperity, and People” at a virtual summit in late 2020, setting out guiding principles for the development of bilateral relations.
The Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership spans various fields of politics, trade, investment, energy, development partners, defense, security, and people-to-people exchange. The extensive cooperation illustrates a special relationship of mutual trust and understanding.
New cooperative opportunities and higher aim
With two complementary rapidly developing economies, Vietnam and India have pushed ahead with economic cooperation. The “Joint Vision for Peace, Prosperity, and People” identifies priorities for developing a new partnership and a reliable and flexible supply chain to overcome impacts of COVID-19 and reach trade revenue target of 15 billion USD.
Businesses of both countries are seeking opportunities in the other’s market, particularly in new sectors of information technology, communications, renewable energy, and innovation.
The two countries’ stance and common interests in regional peace, stability, and prosperity have laid a firm foundation for stronger cooperation. Vietnam is considered a key pillar in India’s Act East Policy and one of the main partners for the India-Pacific Vision. Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Pranay Verma said that the Act East Policy is one of the fundamental visions of India's engagement in the region . Vietnam has been an important partner of India in politics, economy, and security and an important chain in India's commitment with ASEAN. Vietnam is clearly an indispensable partner in the Indo-Pacific Vision basing on joint values and interests in promoting regional peace, stability, and prosperity, Pranay Verma said.
Basing on the development of bilateral relationship, Speaker of India’s House of Representatives Om Birla’s visit to Vietnam will be a new landmark in the 50 years of cooperation between the two countries. It will further strengthen political trust and create momentum for the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to expand in various fields.
