The Organizing Board says this year’s theme was inspired by the lyrics "The Fatherland soars in the spring" from the poem "Vietnam’s posture" by poet and martyr Le Anh Xuan.
Poetry Night, the main activity of Vietnam Poetry Day, will be held on Wednesday evening, which marks the first full-moon of the new lunar year. There will be a recitation of poems praising the nation and patriotism and an exhibition of posters featuring 20 outstanding Vietnamese poets who have received the Ho Chi Minh Award for Literature and Arts.
This year US veteran and poet Bruce Weigl will introduce his poem dedicated to a Vietnamese mother.
Poetry Day will also be observed in other localities. Dak Lak province will celebrate the event with the theme "Dak Lak soars with the country". Besides a recitation of poems, there will be traditional musical instrument performances and an exhibition of books, photographs, and calligraphy.
Nie Thanh Mai, Chairwoman of Dak Lak province’s Literature and Arts Association, said, “This year, we have collaborated with the army and police force to introduce their poems and literary works to the public. We have also organized a lion dance, a dragon dance, gong performances, and performances by children and literature and art clubs.”

The Literature and Arts Association of Hoa Binh province has celebrated Vietnam Poetry Day by presenting poems praising the homeland, the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, love, and human values.
On the 15th day of the first lunar month of 1948, President Ho Chi Minh wrote the poem “Nguyen Tieu” (First Full-Moon Festival) on his way to work. Since 2003, the first full moon has been observed as Vietnam Poetry Day nationwide. The event brings together poets of different generations and inspires a renewed commitment to enriching the nation’s poetry and literature.
