(VOVWORLD) - A youth volunteer program called “Border March" to help disadvantaged people in border areas has been launched in Da Nang city and Quang Nam province in response to the “I love my Fatherland” movement organized by the Youth Union every March in border communes nationwide. Youth Unions at all levels are organizing activities to promote economic development initiatives and volunteerism among young people in border areas.

In Quang Nam province, the Youth Unions of Da Nang and Quang Nam jointly organized the "Border March" program in A Nong commune, Tay Giang district, where they provided free medicine and medical exams to people in difficult circumstances, and gave gifts to village elders, A Nong Border Station and relatives of border officers and soldiers.
Youth Union members also implemented a program called "Light up the countryside". Nguyen Ba Duan, Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Youth Union, said: "We are organizing several volunteer activities focused on social security. Youth movements contributing to the city's socio-economic development have spread. Our activities are focused on disadvantaged young people, poor children, poor families, and social beneficiaries in the city and neighboring mountain provinces."
In the border district of Buon Don, the Dak Lak provincial Youth Union has organized social security activities, presented scholarships to students in difficult circumstances, given bicycles to disadvantaged students with outstanding academic results, provided capital to young startups, and built charity houses. On this occasion, the Dak Lak provincial Youth Union gave 20 maps to Yok Don National Park and the Yok Don, Bo Heng, and Serepok border stations.
In Soc Trang province, the 2024 "Border March" program was held at Lai Hoa Border Guard Station, Vinh Chau town, where there are many disadvantaged ethnic minorities. The provincial Youth Union presented a charity house and 2,000 notebooks to poor students and gave 20 gifts to families of fishermen and border guards.
Nguyen Kim Quy, a member of the Central Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and Standing Vice Chairman of the Central Youth Union of Thanh Hoa province, said: "The Youth Federation will organize activities for border areas and border guard stations and organize social security activities for village elders, village chiefs, and other distinguished people. We will focus on children and disadvantaged people in border areas and islands."
The "Border March" program is held annually, with many activities demonstrating the solidarity of Youth Union members and border soldiers. The program demonstrates Youth Union members’ role in socio-economic development, maintaining national defense and security, social order and safety, and caring for people and children in difficult circumstances in border areas.
