(VOVworld)- Vietnamese people have different ways to spend their Tet holiday which lasts for 9 days this year. Some people return to their home village, while some others organize trips elsewhere inside and outside the country. Tours that last from 3 days to a week are the most popular. This year, tours of the central and northern regions are the most popular.

During the days prior to Tet, travel companies have launched hundreds of attractive tours including those of Nha Trang, Phan Thiet, Con Dao and Phu Quoc. Running away from the cold in the north, tourists can enjoy sunshine on beautiful beaches and discovery coral reefs deep in the ocean. Tourists can also sample local seafood. This year, the central highlands city of Da Lat expects to welcome more tourists because of the city’s beautiful flowers, romantic landscapes, clean air and many relics closely associated with famous love stories. Nguyen Thi Nguyen, Deputy Director of Lam Dong province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, says that overseas Vietnamese are the main tourists to Da Lat during Tet. “Overseas Vietnamese visit Da Lat because many of them have relatives here. Provincial authorities have organized meetings with overseas Vietnamese and set up an Overseas Vietnamese Association in Lam Dong. Da Lat is blessed with beautiful weather, so it’s a popular destination for domestic tourists. Da Lat can accommodate about 40,000 guests a day”, said Ms Nguyen.
Visiting Da Lat for second time, Stefan, a German tourist is amazed by the beauty of hundreds of types of flowers in the city. He is also impressed by the local hospitable people. Stefan says: “People in Da Lat are hospitable and the food is delicious. The weather is beautiful. Life here is exciting at night”.

This year, the number of tourists to the northern region has also increased sharply. The Vietravel company introduced more than 300 inbound and outbound tours, of which tours of the north accounted for more than half. Thu Huong, a marketing person with the Khanh Sinh International Travel Company says that the number of tourists to Sa Pa and Ha Long is higher than in 2012. “The number of tourists to Ha Long is higher because Ha Long Bay was voted one of the seven Wonders of Nature in the world. Tours to Ha Long are organized everyday and there’s no price break or price hike during Tet”, said Ms Huong.
Tourists to Ha Long mainly come from Germany, Russia, the US and France 2- and 3-day tours of Ha Long are the most popular. The tourists can either spend the night on Cat Ba island or on a boat. We have luxurious 3-star ships. During the tours, tourists visit caves, and fishing villages, row a boat and go fishing. 2-day tours cost between 80 and 130 USD and 3-day tours run from 150 to 200 USD.

Ms Huong says, tours of Sa Pa in Lao Cai province are also very popular: ”Tours of Sa Pa take 3 to 5 days. That is an attractive destination because tourists have a chance to experience the local life which is very different from their own. There’s a large number of tourists to Sa Pa during Tet”.
In addition to Sa Pa, Moc Chau in Son La, Pu Luong in Thanh Hoa, ATK in Tuyen Quang and Ba Be lake in Bac Kan are among the favorite destinations during Tet holiday.
