(VOV) – The 10^th National Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union opened today in Hanoi under the theme: “Youth Aspiration for National Construction”.

Party and State leaders and more than 1,200 delegates representing millions of Vietnamese people across the country attended the event. First Secretary of the Youth Union Central Committee, Nguyen Dac Vinh, said the congress is an important political event of Vietnamese youth marking a new development step of the Youth Union and teen movements. This congress will review the implementation of the last Congress’s resolution and define targets and orientations of Youth Union and teenager movements in the new term with the main focus on promoting youth’s revolutionary ideology, moral and lifestyle education, encouraging youth’s ambition, study and creativity to make Vietnam a modern and industrial country by 2020: "In the context of integration and development and for the cause of national industrialization and modernization, the congress called on Vietnamese youth to continue the tradition of their predecessors, grasp opportunities, and be determined to overcome any challenge to implement national industrialization and modernization to make Vietnam a prosperous, democratic, and civilized country moving toward socialism".
