2013 Yen Tu Spring Festival opens

(VOVworld) – The 2013 Spring Festival on Yen Tu mountain, the country’s leading centre for Buddhism, opened on Monday in Uong Bi city in the northern province of Quang Ninh. This year’s festival began a day ahead of schedule. The organizers announced the Prime Minister’s decision to recognize Yen Tu site as a Special National Relic. Vice Chairwoman of the Uong Bi People’s Committee Hoang Thi Ha said: The number of visitors to this year’s festival is predicted to jump to 2.7 million. The Yen Tu relic site has been upgraded to better serve visitors. We believe that Yen Tu will attract repeat festival goers and Buddhist followers.
