Mu Cang Chai is famous for its mesmerizing terraced rice fields.

Located 300km from Hanoi, Mu Cang Chai, a mountainous district of Yen Bai province, is known for its terraced fields spreading out over beautiful mountain slopes. 

During the harvest season from mid-September to October, rice is coated in golden color on the fields as far as the eye can see, providing a magnetic attraction for visitors. 

The art show, which also marked National Day on September 2, recalled the jubilant atmosphere 78 years ago when Vietnam gained independence after a long, arduous struggle against foreign invasion.

It also spotlighted the distinctive cultures of ethnic minorities living in Mu Cang Chai. 

Earlier the same day, hundreds of artists and thousands of locals thronged Mu Cang Chai streets for a program featuring the daily life of the Mong ethnic minority.

Mu Cang Chai’s terraced rice fields were recognized as a national landscape in 2007.
