The passengers on board included pregnant women, the elderly, sick people, and those with underlying health issues, guest workers with expired contracts, and other people in extremely difficult circumstances.

Ahead of the flight, the Vietnamese Embassy sent staff to the airport to assist the citizens with necessary boarding procedures.

Vietnam Airlines strictly carried out in-flight security and disease prevention measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.

All crew members and passengers underwent compulsory medical checkups and were put into isolation in line with regulations regarding COVID-19 prevention and control after they landed at Can Tho international airport.

More repatriation flights are set to be conducted in the time ahead to bring home Vietnamese citizens with disadvantaged circumstances, depending on their need, the epidemic containment situation and domestic quarantine capacity.
