8th Asian Parliamentary Assembly opens in Cambodia

(VOVworld) - The 8th Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) plenary session opened in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on Wednesday themed “Promoting Peace, reconciliation, and dialogue in Asia”.

The event, which will run until Friday, brings together parliamentary presidents and representatives of 22 countries.

The session will focus on differences among nations, and building a culture of reconciliation for regional peace and economic development.

At a preparatory meeting on Tuesday, the APA’s executive council adopted the plenary session’s agenda and elected a president, deputy president, and report presenters. They contributed opinions to the opening speech of the APA Executive Council to be presented by Mian Raza Rabbani, President of the Senate of Pakistan and APA Chairman.

Participants also debated a draft resolution to be submitted to the APA plenary session for approval.
