Agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover so far this year is estimated at nearly 45.4 billion USD, reaching more than 50% of this year's export plan, thanks to key agricultural products, including fruit and vegetable exports.
“This year, the target will be 65 billion USD if there are no unusual factors from now until the end of the year. Last year's trade surplus was nearly 18 billion USD, this year with the current growth rate, we will strive to exceed it,” Deputy Minister Tien said.
The two major goals of ensuring national food security and contributing to economic growth through trade surplus have been specified with seven items maintaining stable export growth, including coffee, rubber, pepper, cashew nuts, vegetables, rice, and wood and wood products.
According to the Deputy Minister, production will be boosted and export markets expanded in the last months of the year.
