Themed “National and Regional Counter-Terrorism Strategies Amid Emerging Security Challenges and Threats”, the conference, hosted for the first time by Russia on Wednesday and Thursday in Moscow,  drew 100 representatives from 23 BRICS member and partner countries, as well as international organizations.

Participants agreed to identify the key task of completely destroying international terrorist organizations, including the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS), prevent the use of extremist and terrorist groups as tools to wage “hybrid war” or interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign states.

It called on countries to join hands to prevent the spread of fascist and neo-fascist ideologies, including revisionism and distortion of history. The conference also agreed on the view of not using the networks or resources of terrorist organizations to serve political or economic purposes in any form.
