(VOVWORLD) - Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin affirmed that all political factions in the Duma support enhancing cooperative relations with Vietnam.

At a meeting with Vietnamese General Secretary To Lam on Saturday in Moscow, held as part of the Vietnamese Party leader’s official visit to Russia and his attendance at the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, Chairman Volodin emphasized that General Secretary To Lam’s visit further deepens the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Vietnam, including through parliamentary cooperation. He reiterated that the State Duma unanimously supports closer ties with Vietnam.
General Secretary To Lam praised the Russian State Duma’s great contributions to the development of bilateral parliamentary cooperation. He affirmed that Vietnam attaches great importance to its relationship with Russia, and that parliamentary cooperation plays a vital role in advancing and overseeing the implementation of bilateral agreements.
The two leaders agreed to continue promoting the exchange of legislative experience and enhancing the legal framework for cooperation. They also emphasized the need to remove procedural barriers and facilitate more favorable conditions for citizens of both countries to live, study, and work in each other’s territories.
On the occasion, General Secretary To Lam invited Chairman Volodin to pay an official visit to Vietnam and co-chair the 4th meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Russian State Duma, scheduled for September 2025.
