At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Lao counterpart Sonexay Siphandone agreed to promote cooperation in trade and investment; enhance connectivity and complementarity between the two economies; and actively resolve obstacles encountered during implementation.

Both sides agreed to soon raise bilateral trade to 5 billion USD and work toward 10 billion USD in the near future; prioritize resources for key infrastructure projects such as the Hanoi-Vientiane expressway; and accelerate the development of the Vietnam-Laos Industrial Park model.

Vietnam and Laos will promote cross-border economic cooperation along the East-West Economic Corridor; and improve the investment, business, and infrastructure environment to support sustainable development and economic complementarity.

The two sides will also expand cooperation among Party, State, and Fatherland Front agencies and mass organizations; strengthen coordination and mutual support in socio-economic development; and ensure security and stability along the border areas, thereby contributing to their special relationship.
