All-out efforts needed to get IUU yellow card removed: Minister

Along with the drastic directions of the Government, the Prime Minister, and Ministries, the latest Directive of the Party Secretariat showed that combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing has been directed from the Party and State to ministries and localities.

Localities play a very important role in combating IUU fishing and promoting Vietnam's international status, said Minister Le Minh Hoan.

Hoan said: “Fighting IUU fishing is the premise to restructure the fishery sector for transparency, responsibility and sustainable development. We take action not to deal with the situation but for our own benefits. This is time for localities to make contribution to improving the nation’s image, not simply to remove the “yellow card”.
