They also had an in-depth exchange of views on the relationship and on major international and regional issues of mutual interest, and charted the course forward for Sino-Russian relations and cooperation across the board.

Xi said they signed and issued the Joint Statement of China and Russia on Deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Coordination for the New Era in the Context of the 75th Anniversary of China-Russia Diplomatic Relations. The leaders also witnessed the signing of a number of important intergovernmental and interagency cooperation documents, which give a new, strong impetus to the development of China-Russia relations.

President Putin said the joint statement sets new ambitious tasks and long-term goals for the development of the overall Russia-China relationship. The two sides will create favorable conditions for the implementation of these goals by signing a package of intergovernmental and interagency cooperation and trade agreements.

Putin thanked China for its efforts to find a solution to the Ukraine conflict and said that Russia is open to talks with Ukraine to end the conflict, but Kiev must accept the situation on the ground.

He welcomed the growing economic ties with China, saying "mutual trade and investment is reliably protected from the influence of third countries".
