Anti-corruption press awards given to 44 individuals, teams

(VOVWORLD) -44 prizes were presented to journalists at a ceremony of the 5th national press award for fighting corruption, wastefulness, and negativity on Thursday in Hanoi.
4 A prizes, 10 B prizes, 12 C prizes, and 18 encouragement prizes were given to winning works, which are good quality, highly discoverable, demonstrating the dedication and persistence of journalists in investigating corruption and negative incidents, creating social impacts and bringing positive results in the fight against corruption, according to the Organizing Committee.

In his address at the award ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated the 44 authors and groups of authors whose excellent works were honored.
He suggested, “Strongly promote the key role of the press, build a team of journalists who are ‘steadfast, not retreating in the face of difficulties and challenges; alert in the face of temptations; persistent in political will; dedicated and sharp in expertise; humane in practice; resolute and brave in struggle’. They would be pioneers, exemplary, leading, uncompromising in the fight against corruption, waste, and negativity with the spirit of ‘steel in the pen - fire in the heart’.”
VOV won one A prize for its Traffic Department’s program "What to do with redundant headquarters?"; one B prize for its online newspaper’s series of four articles “There are vested interests in the sale of public land in Thanh Hoa”; and one encouragement prize for Traffic Department’s series of three articles “High-class ‘oases’ and waste in transport”.
