The “ASEAN – India Ministerial Meeting on New Energy and Renewable energy” opened in New Delhi on Wednesday. Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Quoc Khanh led the Vietnamese delegation. Indian New and Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah said India and ASEAN countries need to push cooperation in renewable energy production to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. The summit agreed to increase the exchange of ideas, technology, and cooperation. Many ASEAN countries now wish to collaborate with India in the solar, wind, biomass, and small hydro power industry.
