Xi Jinping to attend SCO summit, visit Kazakhstan and Tajikistan

(VOVWORLD) -Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the 24th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Astana and pay state visits to Kazakhstan and Tajikistan from Tuesday to Saturday, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Sunday.

Xi will attend the SCO Summit in Kazakhstan on Tuesday and Wednesday, then visit Tajikistan.      

Russia is working to arrange a meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the summit, where the two leaders will discuss issues of mutual concern.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an intergovernmental organization established on June 15, 2001, in Shanghai, China. The SCO has eight members: China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India, and Pakistan.
