(VOVworld) – The task force of “the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI) Work Plan II” has held a mid-term review in Jakarta looking at the bloc’s integration. Participants discussed and assessed the IAI Work Plan and current implementation approaches and modalities conducted by a team from the Mekong Institute with the support of Australia through the ASEAN-Australia Development Cooperation Program (AADCP II).

Issues discussed include improving coordination among ASEAN sectoral working groups and stakeholders, and enhancing the monitoring of relevant initiatives and programs in the region, especially those of Dialogue Partners and international institutions. Capacity building for Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam and the ASEAN Secretariat to implement the IAI work program was also tabled.

Leaders during last year’s ASEAN Summit approved the mid-term review of the Initiative for ASEAN Integration Work Plan until 2015 to be completed by April and to be reported to Leaders at the 24^th ASEAN Summit in Yangon, Myanmar in May.
