Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has attended the 20th ASEAN Summit in Phnom Penh. Addressing the opening ceremony, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen emphasized the bloc’s solidarity, strengths, and its rising voice in the international arena, along with its great contributions to peace, security, and stability in the region and the world. He said ASEAN has also enhanced its internal connections and cooperation with its international partners to improve people’s lives and contribute to the region’s prosperity. Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung recommended measures to foster the community unity and narrow development gaps. He called for more agricultural cooperation for food security and the implementation of the ASEAN road network and Singapore – Kunming railway as well as the connection of ASEAN seaports.  At the closing session, delegates passed the Phnom Penh Declaration on “ASEAN: One Community, One Destiny”, and the Joint Declaration on a drug-free ASEAN by 2015.
