Wong said Australia is strengthening its ties with Southeast Asia, and Vietnam is one of the focal points. Australia and Vietnam share a commitment to an open, stable, and prosperous region where sovereignty is respected and agreed principles are upheld and served as the basis for regional stability and development over the past decades.

Australia is actively attentive to Vietnam and its regional partners and is acting on its commitments, including the allocation of an additional 470 million AUD for development assistance and developing a new Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040.

Wong affirmed that the Vietnam-Australia relationship will continue to grow stronger in the future. The mutual desire of both nations to elevate their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership underscores their joint commitment to intensify economic connections and address regional strategic concerns. Australia and Vietnam are resolute in advancing collaborative efforts across domains including environmental protection, climate change mitigation, education, digitalization, and energy transition.
