Participants said the strong development of science and technology brings great opportunities and calls for improved technological infrastructure, data base, and appropriate security measures to cope with potential cyber attacks. Le Dung, Director of Nhat Cuong Software Solution Company, said: “There are big opportunities for e-government. The Party’s policy is to acquire advanced technology with a shortcut. Vietnamese have advantages in technology. But it’s more important that we need to fully tap these advantages. So the engagement of the Party, businesses, and people is needed.”

According to a UN report 2015, Vietnam ranked 89 among 193 countries in e-government development index, up 10 notches. Vietnam’s online public service supply scored 0.57 points, ranking 4th in Southeast Asia.

55% of Vietnam’s population use smart phones and have access to the internet.
