(VOVWORLD) -Breakthrough action programs are recommended for the Red River Delta to effectively improve its potential to boost imports and exports, said participants at a trade promotion conference in Hanoi on Wednesday.

Data from the Ministry of Industry and Trade shows that the Red River Delta’s economic growth last year reached 6.28%, ranking it 3rd out of 6 economic regions. Its import-export turnover reached more than 260 billion USD, the highest among the six economic regions, and accounting for 38% of the country’s import-export turnover.
With three growth poles of Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh, the Red River Delta also takes the lead in industrialization, modernization, science and technology research, application, and innovation.
Tran Thi Thu Hien from the Ministry of Industry and Trade said: “Regional connectivity should be enhanced to create drivers for export and production. For example, cooperation between industrial clusters and sectors will boost the production of export staples.”
