Bringing a happy Tet to unfortunate people

(VOVworld) – Localities nationwide have carried out humanitarian activities to assist unfortunate people to welcome the lunar New Year festival, or Tet in Vietnamese. Phu Tho province gave 2.5 billion VND in gifts to 4,100 poor families, social beneficiaries, and national contributors. Organizations and individuals in Binh Dinh province presented thousands of Tet gifts to local poor families.

The Vietnam Red Cross Society will deliver 200 gift boxes containing blankets, mosquito nets, and housewares to the poor. Danang city’s Red Cross Society has encouraged kindhearted people to donate 8,000 Tet gifts, each worth 25 USD, for poor and disabled people.

Nguyen Thuan, Vice Chairman of Danang’s Red Cross Society, said it has collected 15,000 Tet gifts and 20 tons of rice to help poor people celebrate Tet. “Every poor person has a Tet gift worth 25 USD from the Red Cross Society. People in remote mountain areas of Hoa Vang district and coastal areas also have Tet gifts. We aim to deliver 15,000 gifts to poor people this year.”

The Youth Union of Quang Tri province has cooperated with the Prudential Insurance company to provide health insurance to 200 extremely disadvantaged people in Gio Linh and Vinh Linh district in Quang Tri province.
