(VOVworld)- The Central Steering Committee for the Northwestern Region held a conference in Ha Giang province on Thursday to review its performance and implement the remaining tasks for the rest of the year. In his address, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc highlighted the region’s potential with its rich and diverse natural resources as well as its strategic importance in national defense, security and socio-economic development. He asked the regional provinces to strengthen sustainable poverty reduction, increase inter-regional cooperation, mobilize the political system in infrastructure development and improve education and training quality as well as health care, especially for those in remote areas. He urged the region to tap its potential for further development.
