(VOVWORLD) - China strongly opposes the United States' latest semiconductor export controls and will take necessary measures to safeguard its rights and interests, a spokesperson from China's Ministry of Commerce said Monday.

This is a typical act of economic coercion and non-market behavior, the spokesperson said, adding that the US is continuously broadening the concept of national security, abusing export control measures, and engaging in unilateral bullying.
The United States on Monday launched its third big crackdown in three years on China's semiconductor industry, curbing exports to 140 companies.
The move is one of the Biden administration’s last large-scale efforts to stymie China’s ability to access and produce chips. It comes just weeks before the swearing-in of President-elect Donald Trump, who is expected to retain many of Biden’s tough-on-China measures.
