The delegation included Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey, the CEOs of the UK Financial Conduct Authority and the London Stock Exchange, and representatives from major financial institutions such as HSBC and Standard Chartered.
The meeting marked the resumption of the China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue, a bilateral forum suspended since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and strained relations. Chancellor Reeves described the event as a significant milestone, highlighting the new UK government's commitment to a stable, long-term partnership with China.
Vice Premier He Lifeng emphasized China's willingness to collaborate with the UK on creating a fair and equitable business environment, fostering investment and operations by both countries' companies.
