Chinese President Xi Jinping visits the US

Xi Jinping, Party General Secretary and President of China on Friday starts an unofficial visit to the US. Xi Jinping will attend a summit with US President Barack Obama at the Leonore Annenberg manor, California. This is the first meeting between Jinping and Obama since the two countries finished the political transitional process between two terms. The last meeting was held at the Leonore Annenberg manor in 1949. Both sides will discuss a series of issues relating to Chinese yuan exchange rate and trade policy, network security, intellectual property, military modernization and human rights. Both sides also seek cooperation and a common stance on North Korean nuclear program, East Sea, Iran, Syria and South Asia situation after the 2014 US withdrawal of troops. Jinping’s visit to the US will open up opportunities to redefine the US-China relationship towards a “new relationship between major nations”.
