Colorful activities to mark 70th anniversary of Vietnam People’s Army

(VOVworld) – More than 2000 army doctors will take part in a program to help improve public health as part of activities to mark the 70th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army. The program, which will run from July 15 until the end of September, will offer people across Vietnam, especially those in remote and mountainous areas with access to free medicine and medical check-ups and treatment, including free eye and cardiac surgery for disadvantaged children and adults.

The program’s organizers will also present medical equipment to local clinics, establish hotlines to provide free medical consultations and epidemic preventive measures via the Viettel switchboard. Colonel Le Anh Tuan, deputy head of Public Relations Department of the General Politics Department of the Vietnam People's Army, said: “We’ve organized a number of similar programs in the past. This time, we’ve decided to transfer any cases detected with acute diseases to central hospitals for further treatment at our own expense."
Approximately 70,000 people are expected to benefit from the program.
