Conference discusses Vietnam’s tourism development

(VOVWORLD) - Exploring development, tourism, and sustainability in Vietnam from multi-disciplinary and multi-directional perspectives was the theme of a conference in An Giang province on Tuesday. This 9th conference of the “Engaging with Vietnam – Interdisciplinary Dialogue” series was attended by 400 tourism experts and managers.

Vuong Binh Thanh, Chairman of the An Giang provincial People’s Committee, called the conference an opportunity for Vietnamese and foreign researchers to discuss sustainable tourism development, a strategy to develop natural resources, policy making, cooperation in heritage preservation, and human resources training in Vietnam, particularly in An Giang province.

Thanh said: “This conference will guide An Giang’s tourism, which is designated to be the spearhead of the provincial economy. Local authorities will draw on the opinions of this conference to design appropriate policies for sustainable tourism development”.

During the 3-day conference, participants conducted field trips to tourist destinations in An Giang province.
